The Wines of Pozzolengo

This ancient Trebbiano grape variety is grown in many parts of Italy. Wine made exclusively from these grapes is usually rather mild, but if the grapes are grown in special terrains, the wine has a very distinctive flavor. This is the case of LUGANA, south of Lake Garda, and Pozzolengo is right at the heart of this area.

The morainic terrain is formed by calcareous clay rich in mineral salts. , which is the result of careful selection over the centuries by skilled vintners, is strongly tied to the surrounding area, which gives it a fresh, crisp, full-bodied flavor. It is excellent as an aperitif, with vegetable quiches and fresh-water fish.

SAN MARTINO DELLA BATTAGLIA

Tocai grapes from Friuli have found an ideal home in the level areas and morainic circles here. This wine has excellent potential, especially the dessert wine version.

GARDA

This is the biggest D.O.C. area of the province of Brescia, with a great variety of terrains and microclimates. The vineyards, however, are all in the hilly areas. The presence of morainic terrains near the lake makes it possible to produce a high quality wine.
The red wines made with Merlot, Rondinella and Cabernet grapes, are perfect served with the local salami from Pozzolengo, the Brescian-style shish-kabob, and game.
