The Centomiglia in Gargnano: September 11th and - 12th 2010

Circolo Vela Gargnano officially presented the 60th edition of the Centomiglia at Lefay Resorts & Spa Lago di Garda. The president of the yacht club of Gargnano illustrated the many new things planned for the "diamond anniversary" of the lake regatta that will be held next September 11 and 12. The Asso 99 Italian Open championship (also open to foreign crews) will be held during the last week of August. September 5 is the date for the 43rd Gorla Trophy - 50Miglia races, while the Multi Cento - Zuccoli Trophy and the Cento People events will be held on September 11, the same day as the Centomiglia.

Making its debut this year will be "Stravaganza" designed by Olympic medalist Jo Richards for shipowner Domenico Bruzzi: an open class yacht with a keel that practically emerges from the water. The adversaries of "Stravaganza" are all "libera" class boats from European lakes such as the "Grifo-Green Comm Mobile" and "Clandesteam" from Lake Garda and "Wild Lady" from Germany.
Celebration of the 60 years of the Centomiglia (a record for a regatta in Italy) began in June with the first IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championship promoted by Circolo Vela Gargnano and Homerus Project, an autonomous sailing method introduced on Lake Garda, where blind yachtsmen and women are "steered" by sonorous buoys.
After the regattas of August and September, Gargnano Yacht Club will present a book with more than 250 pages dedicated to the 60th edition of the event on Lake Garda. In December, it will present the "Garda Ciak" retrospective show in cooperation with the Garda Film Festival.
