"New divers, extraordinary scenery, and increasingly complex and spectacular aerial acrobatics"... we're talking about the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, the world's most important high diving competition. This year the Italian stop moves from Puglia to Malcesine, the enchanting gem on the banks of Lake Garda. The breathtaking scenery created by the combination of the crystalline waters of Lake Garda and the imposing Mount Baldo will make the competition a unique experience for both athletes and spectators.
Held in the deep south of Italy - Polignano a Mare - up until 2010, the World Series has flown north to land on famous Lake Garda. Renowned for its myriad sports activities made possible by the mild climate and favorable geographic position, it will certainly be able to welcome Red Bull Cliff Diving and its divers who will perform from the Scaliger Castle of Malcesine. The fascinating town of Malcesine stands at the foot of Monte Baldo, on a small cliff northeast of Lake Garda (Italy's largest lake).
Just 50 km from Verona, the town is situated around the Scaliger Castle and Palazzo dei Capitani. Tourism is its main business, and it is considered one of the most elegant towns with the best facilities on the lake, a favorite destination of athletes who can find the widest range of sports (windsurfing, sailing, mountain biking, climbing, parasailing, skiing, and more) Many illustrious people visited Malcesine, including Goethe and the famous painter Gustav Klimt, who in the summer of 1913 painted one of his most famous landscapes inspired by Malcesine. The town also has a vibrant cultural scene, with many painting and sculpture exhibits in the summer.
