Puegnago-Fiera takes place on the first weekend of September as it has for the past thirty years. The 2010 edition will be held from September 3 to 6, 2010 on the Beato Don Giuseppe Baldo Square in the center of Puegnago del Garda, which has a splendid view of Lake Garda and the Valtenesi Valley. One of the most particular products that originates on the Brescian banks of Lake Garda is Groppello, a unique wine that is made from the local Groppello grape which is only found in the Valtenesi valley and has become very popular in recent years due to renewed interest in ancient grape vines.
Groppello D.o.c is certainly the most typical wine of the area. This smooth, subtle red wine with fruity and spicy notes is very pleasing to the palate. Different varieties are created from an accurate selection of grapes from the finest vineyards: the Riserva version, for example, is left to mature for at least two years before it is sold on the market. On Monday, September 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Castle, Puegnago-Fiera will close the festivities with a tribute to "green gold": extra-virgin olive oil. This king of Italian cuisine will be the topic of the -EXTRA-VIRGIN OLIVE OIL: TOP QUALITY STARTS AT THE BOTTOM- conference organized by Aipol and Unaprol. Italian experts in the sector will speak about the importance of focusing on the high quality of the product that is a symbol of Italian excellence. In fact, extra-virgin olive oil is special precisely because it is Italian. In this edition as well, Hosteria dello Spiedo will be a central place where Puegnago Fair visitors can enjoy local flavors in a pleasant setting. With the help of "Amici dello Spiedo" [Friends of the Kabob], visitors will find traditional local dishes, including the famous Kabob with polenta. Hosteria guests can also choose from four first courses and several second courses, all accompanied by Groppello wine.
