IFSC Climbing World Championship: Arco, from 15th to 24th July 2011

The Eiffel Tower and Red Square were not enough to beat the candidacy of the Trentino city this year. From July 15 to 24, in fact, Arco will host the Climbing World Championship 2011. This is a first for Italy, and it has become a reality due to the tradition of this city of Trentino on Lake Garda and to the organizational skills of ASD Rock Master, the creator of the event with the same name that is celebrating its silver anniversary this year. At this point, it will celebrate this achievement wearing the colors of the rainbow. The championship held in Arco will introduce a new sport "team speed" and it will also welcome diversely abled athletes for the first paraclimbing championship.

This major event will put Arco in the spotlight as the international climbing capital. Climbers love Arco but they also love Lake Garda nearby, even if they don't sail or windsurf. Torbole sul Garda has several natural rock walls for training that are just a few hundred meters from the beach.
Just 15 minutes on bike from Riva del Garda, Arco is known for its cliff with a medieval castle on top. It is a genuine fortified village, with two main towers, trenches beneath the walls, a mill, cellars, and cisterns.
