This historical ornithological-hunting fair has always been held on the feast day of the Blessed Virgin. Created as a birdcall festival, the Bird Festival in Cisano di Bardolino has always been a must-see date for hunters and farmers. The popular birdcall market was revived a few years ago. The chief attraction is the Gara delle Primavere [The Spring Competition], which takes place on Wednesday, September 8th.

At 6:30 a.m., in the splendid setting of Marzan Park, various species including the blackbird, song thrush, redwing, lark, finch, wood thrush, linnet, goldfinch, and many others warble and chirp. Another entertaining moment is the birdcall whistling contest (without or without a penny whistle) featuring the nation's best whistlers.
An attraction that deserves mention is the Sisan Museum of Natural History. The Sagra dei Osei Association has chosen the ancient local word "Sisan" for the name of its new museum with a complete exhibit of birds of the western palaeartic region and fish species of Lake Garda, and a display of equipment and techniques used in the past to catch prey and fish. Don't miss the concerts of the "Pieve di Cisano" Bell Ringers Group, the exhibits, and the events that are organized for this occasion. Delicious local dishes will be served at the booths set up for the event.
