The oldest part of the town Arco lies at the foot of a cliff, at the top of which sit the remains of Arco Castle. The towns of Bolognano, Caneve, Ceole, Chiarano, Grotta, Massone, Moletta, Oltresarca, Padaro, Pratosiano, Romarzallo, S.Giorgio, S.Martino, Varignano, Vigna and Vignole extend towards Dro, Torbole sul Garda and Riva del Garda and through the vast plains crossed by the Sarca River. Agriculture (wine,olive oil,plums, etc.) and industry thrive in this area, and the tourism industry has also rapidly developed.
Arco was a well-known vacation spot already in the second half of the 19th century, when it became the holiday residence at lake garda of the Hapsburg dynasty and Vienna's high society: Today Arco is home to modern hotels and spas. Due to its marvelously mild climate, even in winter, Arco has been rightfully dubbed "The Nice of Trentino". Mountain climbing, free climbing, parasailing and hang gliding, mountain biking, archery, sailing, surfing, swimming, fishing, soccer, jogging, squash, tennis and horse riding are just some of the sports available.

Many interesting buildings can be found in the oldest part of the town Arco still surrounded by medieval walls and with narrow alleys, small squares and lovely fountains. Overlooking Piazza Tre Novembre are the Collegiate Church, the Baroque Town Hall and Giuliani Palace with eighteenth century porticoes, Altamar Palace (1566), Calzà House (formerly of the counts of Arco) and the 18th century Panni Palace.
Many works of art and monuments can also be found in smaller villages. The remains of a medieval castle can be still seen in the Castellino area near the St. Barbara Pass between Mount Creino (1,292 m) and Mount Stivo (2,059 m). The churches of S. Apollinare and S. Paolo, surrounded by olive groves, S. Martino and S. Giacomo, which sits in a solitary position on the slopes of Mount Stivo, were also built during the Middle Ages.

Madonna delle Grazie Sanctuary. The sanctuary in Ceole, on the border near Riva del Garda, is the destination of numerous pilgrims. The Franciscan convent dates back to 1492. The church was built in neoclassical style in the 19th century.

The last section of the botanical park in Arco, which Archduke Albert of the Hapsburg dynasty had built around his villa in 1872, extends for almost one hectare and contains different tree species from all over the world: Monterey cypress, cedars, a monumental sequoia, a spectacular Lawson cypress shaped like a candelabrum, the mammoth tree, palms, orange trees, lemon trees, yews and holm oaks. There two possible botanical routes through these "miniature vegetative landscapes" in Arco.
Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., from October to March, and from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from April to September. Admission free.

The S. Maria Assunta Collegiate Church, which was built between 1613 and 1617 and designed by imperial court architect Giovanni Maria Filippi of Dasindo, contains priceless altars, sculptures, paintings and a grand treasure of chalices, crosses, candlesticks, thuribles and ostensories. The Madonna delle Grazie Sanctuary, a destination of numerous pilgrims, is in Ceole near Riva del Garda. The Franciscan convent dates back to 1492. The church was later rebuilt in the neoclassic style in the 19th century.
